CLUB STORY

Lommel SK in Belgium became the ninth team in the City Football Group family in May 2020. The Club plays its home matches at the 8,000-capacity Soevereinstadion in Lommel, in the province of Limburg. They currently play in the second division Challenger Pro League.

Renowned for its strong Academy and focus on youth development, the history of the Club dates back to the 1930s. Previous incarnations have included Vlug & Vrij Overpelt-Usines, Vlug & Vrij Overpelt, Koninklijke Vlug & Vrij Overpelt-Fabriek and KVSK United.

In 2010, KVSK merged with third-tier club KFC Racing Mol-Wezel and changed its name to Lommel United. There was early success, but in 2016/17, the team were relegated to the Belgian First Amateur Division and subsequently lost their professional status. Following that low point, the team changed their name to Lommel Sportkring – and in 2020, CFG made its investment.

During the 2020/21 season, Lommel SK saw the development and progression of several young, talented players. The Club finished an encouragingly strong season in third place in the Belgian second division.

In July 2022, Lommel SK revealed their new badge after receiving feedback from their supporters. The new design includes significant elements representing the Club's history and that of Lommel City.

The 2023/24 season saw Lommel SK narrowly miss out on the Challenger Pro League Playoff Final.
